The finance ministers of G20 and the governors of the central banks have asked the global regulators, the Financial Stability Board (FSB), to monitor the risks involved in crypto assets. The request was put up after the G20 meeting that was held in Fukuoka, Japan. A joint statement was published on Japan’s Ministry of Finance official website.

The leaders that cosigned the requested document stated that they want the  Financial Stability Board and the global standards-setting organizations to monitor the risks and work on appropriate multilateral responses in the crypto space. They also pointed out the technological innovations in the crypto space and their benefits to the financial systems and economy.

The involved leaders are looking forward to adopting the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) Interpretive Note and guidance related to crypto assets. The finance ministers and central bank governors will also be supportive of the initiatives in the crypto industry by the International Organization of Securities Commissions, international regulatory bodies and the FSB.
